Through the catastrophe of Fukushima, more and more awareness of atomic energy is present. Through the catastrophe of Fukushima, the catastrophe of Chernobyl is reviving.
The German author Merle Hilbk talks about the circumstances of Chernobyl, years after the catastrophe, in her book. How do the people cope with that today? What is happening to the regions that are drugged? How does it come that this catastrophe and this regions are used for tourism for the Western world? All those questions are dealt with in the book. The author herself calls the book “a road movie” because she describes her travel through those areas with humour, intelligence and with reason.
It is really fascinating to read about what is happening to the people there long after the catastrophe and to raise awareness for those who got already forgotten.
